Learn about the Wellness Wheel and the Gears to Wellness. We will be discussing the different parts and dimensions of your health and happiness such as how you feel physically, emotionally, socially, mentally, spiritually, at work, and in your surroundings, so you can look at your life in a complete way  We will be discussing the stress response and how this impacts our body and nervous system.  We will introduce some stress management strategies.  We will also complete a pelvic floor assessment to determine how this relates to posture and proper muscle activation and relaxation.

WEEK 2:

December 6:  Mindfulness 

Learn about Mindfulness and how it can improve stress.   We will be reviewing and recapping topics from last week.  We will Discuss Accountability-introduce journal for visual representation/accountability and tools such as a food diary and mindfulness journal. We will be discussing mindful eating, and provide tips to decrease holiday stress eating and how to maintain healthy eating habits.  We will also practice mindfulness and movement activities such as guided imagery and progressive muscle relaxation to assist with stress management.

WEEK 3:

December 13:  Consistency and Lifestyle

Learn about Consistency in Lifestyle:  We will be discussing that more is not always better and that consistency is the key.  We will be discussing the importance of lifestyle such as hydration, sleep, and daily routines.  Sleep is an important part of lifestyle to combat fatigue and stress.  We will also talk about simple ways to incorporate movement into your daily routine.

Michelle is a Physical Therapist who specializes in Manual Therapy, Lifestyle Medicine,  Pelvic Floor, and Pain Management. 

Michelle Menashi, PT, DPT 

Physical Therapist, Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, Pelvic Floor Therapist, Therapeutic Pain Specialist

Michelle  graduated from Northeastern University in 2007 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Along with her Doctorate, she has special certifications such as Manual Therapy Certification, Pelvic Health Certification, Lifestyle Medicine Certification, and Therapeutic Pain Specialist. She is also a certified coach in health and wellness.

What inspired Michelle to become a physical therapist is the relationship she is able to form with her clients. She wanted to develop a practice where she could be of help on clients’ journey of improving their health and wellness. Her passion lies in working alongside her patients and developing unique individualized treatments, helping them improve their overall quality of life.

Michelle grew up in New York right outside of New York City. She’s had the great opportunity to live and practice all over the world, including places like Guam, Seattle, Spokane Washington, Boston Massachusetts, and Hampton Virginia.

When she’s not working, Michelle loves to be active because movement is medicine! She also likes to read, cook, travel, and spend time with her family.
